Good Bye ITV Granada Quay Street March 17, 2014
Goodbye studio 12!
Media Dog’s Rob says his final goodbye to his old haunt ITV’s Granada’s Quay street studios, the oldest purpose-built television studios in the United Kingdom.
Now ITV Granada has moved to it’s new base at Media City UK in Salford Quays, building an entire new Coronation Street set in the process. It appears likely that the Quay Street site will be sold for development, so here we see Rob saying good bye to Studio 12 for the very last time.
For the TV buffs amongst us, Studio 12 measured 733m² (7,889 ft²) with a capacity of 524 and was used for entertainment shows such as Stars In Their Eyes. The Beatles filmed their first television performance in this studio and the studio hosted the First Election Debate in 2010, such a share it’s soon to meet with the wrecking ball.
